FIRST NATIONS CONSULTANT & COACH
Meet Kirsten
Hi, I'm Kirsten Hausia, the founder of Culture Crate.
I am an Aboriginal - Badimiya Yamatji - woman and also Black American. Growing up, I lived in the United State of America, as well as other countries (Japan, Guam) because of my father’s military career. This allowed me to experience a range of cultures and people from a young age. I studied my Bachelor of Primary Education at Norfolk State University, a Historically Black College before moving to Australia to complete my Masters of Education Studies with a focus on Educational Leadership and Guidance/Counselling at the University of Queensland.
Creating Culture Crate
Culture Crate started as a Bookstagram (book Instagram) which shared diverse Children and Young Adult literature. Culture Crate focuses on the importance of diversity and inclusion in children & young adult literature throughout Australia. The Bookstagram started as fun but expanded to book reviews, book clubs and book drives.
